our founding story
Bay Area Center for Immigration Evaluations was founded by Ellie Vargas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
Ellie's professional career has focused extensively on serving diverse immigrant communities across the Bay Area and New York City. In 2013, when she launched her private psychotherapy practice in Oakland, she began offering mental health evaluations for immigration attorneys.
Ellie soon had more referrals than she could accommodate and began thinking about how to expand this service. The goal was clear: expand access to high-caliber forensic evaluations at predictable flat rates, while bringing together a collective of highly skilled, trauma-informed clinicians dedicated to this specialized work.
Today, BACIE evaluation reports are authored by experienced, licensed clinicians across California who combine deep clinical expertise with specialized training in forensic mental health documentation.
